Founders and senior misionaries

Jerry and Carla Mansee

Jerry and Carla Mansee serve as full-time missionaries to Mexico. They currently live in Rancho Nuevo, a village on the edge of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, but their ministry, “Portadores de Su Gloria” (“Carriers of His Glory”) takes them all over Mexico working with local pastors and ministries –doing evangelistic and medical-dental campaigns, pastoral and leadership conferences and outreaches. The Mansees moved to Mexico in September 2001 after attending King´s Way Missionary Language Institute for nine months. They then began working with Palabra de Vida Church and Pastors Bobby and Lynn Crow and Pastors Jerry and Ernie Garcia. Initially, they worked with the Palabra de Vida Bible Institute and in Home Cell groups. Carla also translates for Americans who visit Palabra de Vida during their Revival Now services and other special services.

Their mission story did not begin there. Jerry and Carla have been actively involved in Mexico mission work since 1980 when they took their first trip to Ciudad Victoria. For them it was literally love at first sight. For some twenty years the Mansees traveled to Mexico, leading American groups four to five times per year. Some of these groups were strictly evangelistic —preaching and teaching in churches and villages in many different areas of northern Mexico. Other trips were more work oriented. Among other things, they did construction and renovation work on churches, orphanages and Bible Colleges. During these years, there were also several trips made with groups to Belize, Central American, doing construction on an orphanage.

In 1994, God opened a new door for Jerry and Carla. For seventeen years Carla had served as an Associate Pastor at Maranatha Church, a large interdenominational church in the Houston area. Along with the church’s mission director, David Slack, the Mansees helped to establish and organize a medical outreach called “Sus Manos Extendidas” or His Hands Extended. They still work with this organization, doing medical-dental campaigns all over northern Mexico four to five times a year. Doctors and dentists are flown in to provide medical and dental services to impoverished Mexican families in areas where there was little or no medical assistance available. In addition to the medical services offered, God meets the spiritual needs of the people as our evangelistic teams preach the Gospel to them as they waited to see the doctors. Each trip hundreds of people accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. In 1998, God increased the scope of this ministry by providing a mobile clinic, a bus that is equipped with a generator and which has a dental area at the front of the bus and a doctor’s office at the back. In the center of the bus is a complete pharmacy.

Since becoming full-time missionaries, Jerry and Carla have seen God´s hand move mightily in their lives and in the lives of others that have been drawn to their ministry. They have literally opened their hearts and their home to the Mexican people. In 2002, God called Evangelist Raúl Lira to live and work with the Mansees. Then in 2003, another evangelist, Luis Fernando Bueno, came to live and work with them. In addition to the medical campaigns, God led the Mansees to work in many areas of Mexico with evangelistic campaigns. God has provided them with a tent, sound equipment, chairs, AND a trailer for transportation. Since then the Lord has added several other people to their staff. Veronica Castillo and her three daughters help the Mansees provide nourishing, delicious meals for the American groups that come for short term mission trips. Also several years ago, Misael Morales, a former graduate of the Palabra de Vida Bible Institute, moved to Ciudad Victoria to work with the Mansees in their evangelistic campaigns. The latest member of this awesome evangelistic team is Cristy García, who works with children.

Jerry´s prior experience in working for Dow Chemical and other petro-chemical plants in the States has served him well in his work in Mexico. God uses him to keep all of the mechanical and sound equipment in order and setting them up and operating them for their campaigns. He also takes pictures for Palabra de Vida and for “Portadores de Su Gloria”. God uses Carla to organize and direct the day-to-day operations of the ministry.

This year once again the Mansees have seen God´s hand move mightily in their lives providing them with a Mission House for the ministry. Jerry and Carla and their evangelistic team, Raúl, Luis Fernando and Misael, live on this property of nearly an acre. They are also constructing dormitories to provide sleeping quarters and bathrooms for visiting missionaries, pastors and American groups. There is also a large Palapa area with an outdoor kitchen and serving area to feed them. Since moving out to the country, they have begun two new outreaches—a new church, which they have opened in the neighboring village of San Francisco and a Home Cell Group in their village of Rancho Nuevo. The Mansees and their team are very excited about the doors God is opening for them to minister His Word. They have proven that there is no limit to what God will do if we just dare to trust Him. In order to expand this ministry, Jerry and Carla need caring people like you to partner with them in the harvest of souls.

Evangelist Raúl Lira Elizondo

In 2002, Raúl Lira came to the Mansees through their English as a Second Language class in the Palabra de Vida Bible Institute. Raúl is bilingual, having spent many years in Chicago, Illinois with his family. He has a marvelous testimony of how God saved him from a life of drug and alcohol addiction and many years spent in gangs and in prison both in the United States and in Mexico. After his graduation from the Bible College, the Mansees invited him into their home to help them in their home cell groups and English classes. Later the Lord used Raúl´s calling and desire to preach the gospel in tent crusades to open the doors for an evangelistic ministry that has traveled to many parts of Mexico. In addition, the Lord is using him in Prison Ministry and in pastoring in a small church in the village of San Francisco. In addition to being the main preacher in our campaigns, he does much of the translation for our American groups. Raúl is also Sister Carla´s indispensible personal assistant who helps her with the organization and day-to-day operations of the ministry.

Evangelist Luis Fernando Bueno

In 2004, God added another blessing to our ministry, Luis Fernando Bueno, whom we also met through Palabra de Vida Bible Institute. Luis also is bilingual, having lived many years in Dallas, Texas. His testimony is very similar to Raúl´s – abandonment by family, gang violence, etc… Luis was saved while he was in United States and later came to Mexico. After his graduation from the Bible Institute, he joined the Mansees and Raúl in their evangelistic ministry. Luis is a very ambitious young man with a desire to manage businesses. He is currently going to the University to receive a business degree. He has worked in the Prison Ministry, outreaches to street kids and gangs and preaching in our campaigns. We are very proud of Luis. God has brought him a long way.

Pastor Misael Morales

Misael Morales is a wonderful young man with the heart of a pastor. He came to us from Palenque, Chiapas through Palabra de Vida Bible Institute and a missionary friend who used his talents in tent campaigns in Chiapas. Misael rounds out our evangelistic team with his calm, gentle manner. He is a hard worker who loves people and enjoys working in tent ministry. We expect God to use him greatly in the future. Misael also works in Home Cell groups and in the Prison Ministry.

Veronica Castillo

Veronica Castillo works as our cook and housekeeper and is quartermaster for our campaigns and American groups. She and her three daughters, Evelyn, Janeth and Liseth live across the street. Daily she comes to help us basically with everything. She is a treasure, who never ceases to amaze us with her many talents and hard work. She also helps us with ministering to the children in our new San Francisco church and in our Home Cell group in Rancho Nuevo.

Cristy García

The latest member of our “Portadores de Su Gloria” team, Cristy Garcia, is a full-time Mom to two children and a part-time “Mom” to an army of young children who always surround her. Cristy has an awesome children’s ministry. She has worked with children for years in Palabra de Vida and with children in colonias and in campaigns. She dresses up as a clown, does face painting, tells stories, dances and sings with the kids in most of our campaigns. She is a much loved member of our team, who inspires much respect and appreciation for her wonderful sense of humor, quiet wisdom and hard work.
